Scotsman Alexander Simpson started production of shaving brushes and male grooming ancillaries in 1919 and is widely regarded as a pioneer in the industry. Manufacturing was originally based in the East end of London but later in Clapham. In 1941, following the loss of his factory during the World War II German Luftwaffe blitz, production was moved to the West Country at the famous Nimmer Mill. Today Simpson shaving brushes and associated products are manufactured by Progress Shaving Brush (Vulfix) Limited on the historic Isle of Man. They continue to be produced in the traditional way using hand tied knots by time served, skilled workers.

Just finished my las of this one. All in all I found it excellent. Simpsons shave creams are really excellent on all points and this one is no exception. It is nice smelling, but not over bearing, performance is outstanding and ensures a great shave. One of the best I have tried ,of many out there.

I just used Simpsons shaving cream for the first time and all I can say is wow... and as a general rule I hardly use shaving creams I’ve always preferred shaving soaps. That is... until now. The sandalwood scent is spot on. The lime is a little faint but still very good. And I’m waiting on Amazon to deliver the bay rum so I can’t comment on the scent. The cream is very slick and provides a thick cushion to protect the skin. I can not be more pleased. From now on all my shave soaps will collect dust because I am officially switching to Simpson’s Shaving Cream

The Vulfix old original Sandalwood has been discontinued, unfortunately, I loved that cream. But the good news is, that there is a sublime alternative available since 2019: Simpson Sandalwood Ultra-Glide Shave Cream. I do not know why Simpson calls it ‘shave cream’, instead of ‘shaving cream’, maybe for legal reasons? I’ve used the cream for two months now, and here are my observations.
The cream creates a nice thick almost fatty lather with only a little bit of cream applied on the tip of the brush. It moisturizes your skin, I experienced no irritations. The soap has, of course, the classic scent of sandalwood – not too strong – and some subtle fresh tones are added as well. It glides perfectly indeed. The cream is not running, you can hold it upside down, without the cream dropping on the floor. Excellent value for money, highly recommended! I ordered directly from the manufacturer, and the international order was delivered extremely fast.
